Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are eyeing up a summer move for Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The 17-year-old hotshot has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough campaign at Craven Cottage, in which he became the youngest player to score in the Championship in their win over Cardiff back in August, aged just 16 years and 92 days, before going on to add another four league goals for Slavisa Jokanovic’s men.

All in all, Sessegnon made 26 Championship appearances, netting five times and laying on three assists, to help the Cottagers clinch a top-six finish, although their dreams of a return to the Premier League were dashed at the play-off semi-final stage by beaten finalists Reading.

Nonetheless, the defender’s unbelievable season in West London has attracted interest from up and down the country, and recent reports suggest that Premier League giants United are hoping to secure his services.

The Red Devils have long been known for giving young talent a chance, and with Marcus Rashford seizing his chance with both hands in the last 15 months, it’s clearly an avenue that can reap the rewards for years to come.

And with manager Mourinho somewhat struggling in the left-back department, what with it clear that he isn’t totally sold on Luke Shaw, Sessegnon wouldn’t be miles away from a first team spot were he to move to Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, United look set to face a battle to land the 17-year-old given that there is reported interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham, although there were reports earlier in the week that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds had withdrawn their interest in the starlet.

Regardless, Sessegnon is a man in-demand, and where he ends up playing his trade come August very much remains to be seen.
