Manchester City Women FC have announced the signing of Scotland international forward Claire Emslie from Bristol City.

The 23-year-old will join the defending Women’s Super League, FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup and FA Cup champions on July 1, putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Emslie, an energetic young forward, joins The Cityzens from Bristol City, where she has been playing since returning from college in the US. Whilst in the US, Emslie played for the Florida Atlantic Owls, during which time she also made her senior debut for Scotland in an international friendly against Iceland.

After joining the WSL1 champions, Emslie said, “Becoming a Manchester City player is an amazing opportunity for me.

New addition: Emslie.

“I was blown away by the facilities when I first visited the City Football Academy and I’m looking forward to taking advantage of them to help me grow as a player.

“The chance to compete in the [UEFA] Champions League is another exciting new prospect for me and I can’t wait to begin playing with rest of the squad and to meet the fans.”

Head Coach, Nick Cushing, added, “Claire is a talented young player with the ability to achieve a lot on the pitch and I am confident she will be a fantastic addition to the squad when we kick off the 2017-18 season.

“She’s determined to improve her game and at Manchester City we want to help develop young players like Claire so they can reach their full potential.”
