It has been a disappointing season in the Premier League for Manchester City, who sit 15 points adrift of the leaders Leicester City, but one of their defenders did enjoy a slightly more successful international break.

Despite being beaten 1-0 against Poland in their first fixture over the Easter weekend, Serbia recovered to win by the same scoreline in Estonia on Tuesday, with City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov scoring the only goal.

The 30-year-old is well known as being a set-piece specialist, and he certainly lived up to his name with a stunning 25-yard free kick nine minutes from time in Tallinn that gave his nation a narrow victory.

Although he won’t be involved in the European Championships this summer after Serbia failed to qualify, Kolarov can still hold hope that he might be lifting a Champions League winners’ medal in May.
