Manchester United have reportedly launched a bid for Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, according to O Estado de Sao Paulo via the Daily Star.

The 18-year-old is highly-rated and has been labelled as a better prospect than Neymar in his home country, with sources in Brazil claiming that both United and Atletico Madrid are ready to bid for the youngster.

It is understood that Jesus’ release clause stands at £23.5million, but the Red Devils are one of five clubs that can sign the attacker for a lower fee of £18.8million – the others are thought to be Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However, any potential deal could be complicated as Palmeiras only own 30% of the forward’s economic rights.

United currently lie sixth in the Premier League standings, and look set for another big summer in the transfer market, although it is still unknown if Louis van Gaal will still be the manager at Old Trafford next term.
