Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the end of the week, according to BBC Sport.

The Premier League club; who could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last term, despite winning the 2016 FA Cup under former boss Louis van Gaal, have been heavily linked with a move for the former Sweden and Paris Saint-Germain forward this summer.

The 34-year-old, who retired from international football last week after 116 caps following Sweden’s exit from EURO 2016 in the group stages, scored a remarkable 50 goals and provided a further 19 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions last season.

Ibrahimovic, who is a free agent after leaving the Parc des Princes this summer following the expiration of his contract, is fully expected to put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Old Trafford outfit.

He will become new Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho’s second summer signing following the £30m arrival of centre-half Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
