Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is reportedly ready to turn down interest from Manchester United to stay with the Spanish giants, according to Marca.

Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the centre-back and had been keen to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford this summer, but the France international, who missed Euro 2016 because of a thigh injury, sees his long-term future at the Bernabeu, where he feels valued by the Los Blancos supporters.

Varane, who has made 150 appearances in all competitions for Real since moving from Lens in 2011, said: “I want to stay here this year, I feel loved by the fans who want the best for me, and the best is yet to come.”

Mourinho, who worked with the Frenchman during his spell as manager of Real from 2010-2013, has signed three players for United so far this summer – Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26.2 million from Borussia Dortmund, Eric Bailly for £30 million from Villarreal and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer.
