Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan reportedly agreed a move to Arsenal, before his eventual switch to the Red Devils earlier this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who currently sit seventh in the English top-flight standings and face Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, recruited the midfielder from Borussia Dortmund back in July for a reported £26.3m.

However the 27-year-old, who has 60 international caps for Armenia, has been restricted to just five first-team appearances in all competitions under new manager Jose Mourinho so far this season.

Mkhitaryan, who impressively netted 41 goals and provided 49 assists in 140 games for Bundesliga outfit Dortmund before arriving at The Theatre of Dreams, has started just one game under the ‘Special One’, meaning his United career is already in doubt.

However, the report suggests that the midfielder almost joined Arsenal instead this summer. A transfer to Arsene Wenger’s side was agreed, but the Red Devils fought off the Gunners late on by stumping up to £7m to win his signature.

when will Micki adapt to life at EPL yet he has not been given more chances to play? He is a good a player and can do wonders when given opportunity. Personally I long to see him causing problems to our opponent’s defensive area but Mourinho has not been giving him chances to so. Try to imagine of a squad where Micki is a right winger, Martial left winger with Radford at the middle(sticking), we’re urging Mourinho to start playing Micki ; he bought him for a purpose and the purpose was to play, which is not the case with him now!
