Manchester United have reportedly had a £28m offer rejected in their bid to sign Greece international defender Kostas Manolas, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last season, but did manage to win the 2016 FA Cup under former manager Louis van Gaal, have been continually linked with a move for the AS Roma centre-half this summer.

The 25-year-old, who has 23 international caps for his country, scored two goals and provided three assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit last season.

Manolas, who joined Roma from Olympiakos back in the summer of 2014, is wanted by new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho as the ‘Special One’ continues his player recruitment at Old Trafford – even after landing fellow defender Eric Bailly from La Liga side Villarreal earlier this month.

However Giulianelli believes United’s £28m bid has been snubbed by the Italian outfit.
