Garry Monk is among the early favourites to take charge of Middlesbrough.

According to the Gazette Live the former Leeds boss is neck and neck with Nigel Pearson to take over at the Riverside.

Monk and Leeds went their separate ways on Thursday but it seems only a matter of time before the former Swansea boss is back in the game.

It took Monk six months to get the Leeds job last summer after being sacked by Swansea but with the Hull job vacant he is likely to be on their short list to succeed Marco Silva.

Although they have just been relegated the Middlesbrough job is thought of as one of the most stable in the game thanks to Steve Gibson.

With the parachute money to work with and a squad without too many expensive misfits ‘Boro are among the favourites to go back up regardless of who takes over as manager.
