Newcastle United will be playing Premier League football next season after an excellent campaign in the Championship.

Rafa Benitez’s men were under pressure to bounce straight back up given the stature of the club and money they spent last summer, and they did just that by winning 29 of their 46 league games, achieving automatic promotion with a few games to spare.

In fact, the Magpies even clinched the title on the final day of the season as they got the better of Barnsley 3-0, while Chris Hughton’s Brighton could only muster a 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa to see the North East club finish a point clear at the top.

And attentions have already turned to their top-flight campaign next term, and who Benitez may look to sign over the summer to make Newcastle competitive in the top tier.

And one man they’ve been linked with in recent days is Derby County winger Tom Ince, who is reportedly available for little over £10 million given that Rams boss Gary Rowett is looking to cull his squad ahead of next season.

The Magpies were interested in Ince earlier this season and could be tempted to go in for him again, although that view isn’t shared by several Newcastle fans on Twitter, who believe the club should refrain from targeting the 25-year-old in the transfer window…
