Newcastle have been linked with a move for Aaron Mooy.

According to a report in The Chronicle the performances of the Manchester City midfielder on loan at Huddersfield have impressed Rafa Benitez as he prepares for a programme of summer investment.

Those performances have got a number of Premier League clubs interested with Mooy unlikely to be making the breakthrough into Pep Guardiola’s star studded side net season.

The 26-year-old started in 43 of the regular Championship fixtures for Huddersfield and is now hoping to help the Yorkshire side to promotion through the play-off’s.

Benitez is looking for a drastic overhaul of his squad with an emphasis on players who already know the demands of the English game.

Mooy showed that and more with Huddersfield and seems certain to be playing his football in the Premier League next season with Newcastle at the front of the queue of clubs looking to sign up the Australian internationalist.
