Newcastle may have beaten Brighton to win the Championship but they look like losing out on the signing of Tammy Abraham.

According to a report in The Sun Chris Hughton’s side have been given permission by Chelsea to open talks about taking the striker on loan for a season.

Abrahams scored 26 goals on loan to Bristol City in the season just ended and has a queue of admirers including Rafa Benitez.

Antonio Conte has no plans to call the 19-year-old into his first team squad but would like to see Abraham up against Premier League opposition.

Newcastle are looking to strengthen almost all areas for their return to the Premier League with the striking positions a priority.

After agreeing a budget with Mike Ashley Benitez is looking to bring in players that are ready to hit the ground running with Abraham’s goals at Ashton Gate suggesting that he is ready to step up.
