Premier League-bound Newcastle United are eyeing up a summer move for Anderlecht winger Frank Acheampong, according to Belgian newspaper DH (via Sport Witness).

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fine season with the Belgian giants, bagging six goals in 47 appearances in all competitions to help the club win the Belgian First Division title, as well as reach the quarter-final of the Europa League.

His three goals in the knockout stage of Europe’s secondary competition and general performances in their wins over Zenit and APOEL earned the Ghana international many rave reviews, and as a result Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle are reportedly set to reignite their interest in the winger this summer.

The Magpies will be returning to the Premier League next season after clinching automatic promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking, piping Brighton to the title on the final day of the season.

And attentions are already turning to their top-flight campaign next term, and having already completed a deal for Christian Atsu, Acheampong could be another man through the doors at St James’ Park.

The North East giants were reportedly interested in him last summer but no move materialised, yet after a decent season in Belgium, Benitez is reportedly keen on the 23-year-old once again, although whether the Ghanaian does indeed make the move to England remains to be seen.
