A product of Liverpool's youth system, Kelly finally looks like making a breakthrough at Anfield, having played just a handful of games for the Reds – though he was part of the side that won the Premier Reserve League title in 2008.

Last season's three-month loan at Huddersfield confirmed that the 20-year-old is ready to make the step up to first team football, impressing for the Terriers.

And that form has been rewarded with his first call-up to the England Under-21 squad, today.

With Roy Hodgson set to include Kelly in his plans for this coming season, the future is bright for the local lad.
