Last season was Phil Jones’ breakthrough campaign, having been with Blackburn since the age of 10.

And the club obviously trust him, his debut was a baptism of fire – the 1-1 draw against champions-elect Chelsea at Ewood Park in March.

His man-of-the-match performance demonstrated that he is more than just a talent for the future, going on to feature in every game until the end of the season.

During that time, Rovers lost just once, avoiding defeat against the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United and Aston Villa. Jones is a bright talent.
