Raheem Sterling is undoubtedly one of the most promising players in the Liverpool academy. Signed from QPR at the age of 15, The Reds are reported to have paid just over £1m for the Jamaican born youngster who has, to the delight of English fans, pledged his future to the England team.

He is equally comfortable playing on either wing and has the pace to make him a danger to any defence. Sterling also has brilliant close control and is almost as competent on his left foot as he is with his natural right.

Whilst Sterling made a name for himself at QPR he took little time adjusting to life at a bigger club and announced himself to the Liverpool faithful scoring five goals in a 9-0 FA Youth Cup thrashing of Southend.

Whilst still only young there can be little doubt as to the quality of a player who has been likened to Theo Walcott and Aaron Lennon. At the age of 16 it might be a few more years before he breaks into the Liverpool first team but with such ability the Anfield regulars will be hoping that they see him sooner rather than later.
