Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell has joined West Brom.

The former Aston Villa centre half has agreed a two and a half year deal after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the clubs.

The 27-year-old joined from neighbours Aston Villa for £2m in 2007 and was part of their League Cup winning squad last season.

He was unhappy to stay in the Championship following relegation and handed in a transfer request.
