England star windfall
Wednesday, 08/09/2010
Gary Cahill's full England debut could land Bolton a nice little earner.
The central defender cost the Trotters under £5m when he joined them in January 2008 from Aston Villa.
But having turned out for the Three Lions against Bulgaria last weekend there is now a clause in his contract which has triggered a £17.5m release fee.
There are already reports that Italian giants Inter Milan are interested in the 24-year-old Sheffield-born defender.
And Trotters boss Owen Coyle admits: "There will come a day, and I hope it doesn't come in January, that Gary Cahill will probably outgrow the football club. I firmly believe that he could play for any of the top four clubs. And if that day comes, then Gary would go with our blessing because he's been a terrific servant."
