Grant given Pompey job

Avram Grant has been appointed as manager of Portsmouth just three days after Paul Hart was sacked.

The Director of Football will have to retain that title to be in charge for this weekend's game against Manchester United as he needs a change to his work permit before he can become manager.

Israeli Grant returned to Fratton Park earlier this season for his second spell as Pompey's Director of Football. He was manager of Chelsea for 2007-08 but was relieved of his duties despite guiding them to second in the Premier League and the final of the Champions League.
