Arsenal could be without at least three major stars for the start of the season.

OUT! Nicklas Bendtner is missing with a groin problem. Medical staff have still to work out precisely how long their Denmark striker will be sidelined.

DOUBT! Cesc Fabregas won't return to the club until next week following a break after the World Cup. Boss Arsene Wenger is hopeful that his star midfielder will be fit enough for the big kick-off.

DOUBT! Robin van Persie also returns to the Emirates next week after South Africa 2010. The club will be praying their influential forward is not suffering after effects of injuries before and during the World Cup!

BOOST! Denilson and Abou Diaby are set to be fit for the start, as is Johan Djourou.
