West Ham have signed New Zealand's World Cup defender Winston Reid.

No fee has been disclosed but it is understood Reid could have cost them around £4m from Danish side Midtjyland.

Reid, 22, has agreed a three-year deal and joins Thomas Hitzlsperger, Pablo Barrera, Frederic Piquionne and Tal Ben Haim at Upton Park.

Reid scored for the All Whites against Slovakia at South Africa 2010 and had been linked to clubs in Italy.
