It seems amazing that after all Mike Ashley’s tinkering with the club that we are still unbeaten this season. The new signings are looking good at the moment and if the defence can continue to hold strong we could be pretty good value for money this campaign.
A point against Villa is nothing to be disappointed with, even if we could have done a bit better with converting the number of shots that we had on target into goals, but I think that most Newcastle supporters can remember what a good keeper Shay Given is.
On Saturday we could almost have been back in a time when Bobby Robson was in charge and he had Laurent Robert taking half-decent pot shots from all distances...this time thanks to Yohan Cabaye on the pitch.
Cabaye looks like a potentially great signing – he seemed to play well together with the rest of the team and he looks like he’s not afraid to have a shot on goal which is something that we have been missing for quite a while.
Let’s hope that he can turn out some more good performances and possibly score a few goals at the same time.
The possible return to action of Hatem Ben Arfa in the League Cup against Nottingham Forest this evening could also prove another major boost.
