Newcastle injury crisis grows

Newcastle injury crisis grows

Thursday, 08/12/2011

Newcastle's brilliant start to the season looks like being hit by an injury crisis.

After potentially losing central defender Steven Taylor for the rest of the season at the weekend, midfielder Danny Guthrie has now been ruled out for six weeks.

Guthrie, who had won his place back in the side thanks to an injury to Cheick Tiote, has a groin injury.

It is a bitter blow for boss Alan Pardew as both players have been in top form for the Geordies.

He is still without central defender Mike Williamson, who is thought to be about two weeks away from a return.

But the news from St. James Park is that captain and key player Fabricio Coloccini could be back for the weekend game at Norwich despite having to go off against Chelsea.

Tiote is also still out injured which means there could be a full debut for Italian defender Davide Santon.
