Stoke put up “no sale” sign

Stoke put up “no sale” sign

Tuesday, 07/12/2010

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has insisted the Potters are hanging on to defender Ryan Shawcross.

The towering centre half has been linked with Liverpool and former club Manchester United.

But Pulis says it would take "silly money" to get the player away from the Britannia Stadium.

Shawcross, 23, who is on the edge of the England squad, cost Stoke £2m from United in 2008 and is now the club's captain.

It is understood that Old Trafford chiefs have first refusal on buying the player back, having put a special clause in the sale contract.
