Stoke star’s new deal

Glenn Whelan has agreed a new three and a half year contract with Stoke City.

And the Republic of Ireland has a further one-year option after his deal ends.

Whelan, 28 tomorrow, was a £500,000 bargain buy from Sheffield Wednesday in 2008 and has now made more than 100 appearances for the Potters.

The Dubliner has 32 international caps and will be looking to add to them at the finals of Euro 2012.
