Sunderland lose two
Thursday, 02/02/2012
Sunderland players Wes Brown and David Vaughan have been sidelined by injury.
And there are fears that the Black Cats could lose defender Brown for the rest of the season.
Midfielder Vaughan is also expected to be out of action for several weeks with an ankle ligament injury.
Former Man United and England star Brown, 32, and ex-Blackpool player Vaughan, 28, who both joined Sunderland last summer, were injured during last weekend's FA Cup tie with Middlesbrough.
On Brown, boss Martin O'Neill said: "We don't think he needs the operation but you are looking at probably about eight weeks before he is back."
And on Vaughan he added: "He is still very, very sore and the swelling is still up. We are looking at a few weeks for him."
