Manchester United won the Premier League title, Manchester City claimed the FA Cup and West Ham United were relegated to the Championship on the penultimate weekend of the season.

* Manchester United claimed a record 19th English League Championship courtesy of a hard fought 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

Brett Emerton handed Rovers a 1-0 interval lead before Wayne Rooney equalised from the penalty spot to earn Sir Alex Ferguson’s side the Premier League title for 2011.

* The Blue half of Manchester was also celebrating on Saturday when Manchester City defeated Stoke City 1-0 in the FA Cup Final at a packed Wembley Stadium. Yaya Toure burst through a static Stoke defence to score the only goal of a tight final.

* Blackpool overcame the challenge of Bolton Wanderers 4-3 following a seven goal thriller and gave themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the drop.

DJ Campbell (2) and Jason Puncheon struck for the Tangerines but Kevin Davies, Matt Taylor and Daniel Sturridge efforts looked to have earned Bolton a point. Charlie Adam scored the winner just after the hour mark to setup a cracking final day of the season.

* Wolves proved too strong for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light winning 3-1 to stay out of the bottom three. Jody Craddock, Steven Fletcher and George Elekobi were on target for Mick McCarthy’s side in a crucial victory. Stephane Seggenson was the Black Cat’s scorer.

* West Brom won their 12th game of the 2011 Premier League campaign with a 1-0 victory at home to Everton and move into 11th place in the standings. Youssouf Mulumbu netted the only goal of the game after 10 minutes to defeat an Everton side who had Diniyar Bilyaletdinov sent off.

* Tottenham travelled to Anfield on Sunday afternoon and defeated Liverpool 2-0 to leapfrog the Merseysiders into fifth spot in the table. Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring and Luka Modric made sure of the points for the North London side with a converted second half penalty.

* A late Steven Taylor goal earned Newcastle United a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Branislav Ivanovic broke the deadlock before Jonas Guttierrez’s deflection levelled matters for Newcastle. Chelsea’s Alex found the net late on but Taylor’s late header made it 2-2.

* Birmingham City suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham in a result which keeps Alex McLeish’s side out of the relegation zone on goal difference only. Brede Hangeland scored in either half to move Mark Hughes’ side into eighth.

* A Darren Bent brace of goals helped Aston Villa win 2-1 at Arsenal. The Gunners were twice caught out by Bent’s pace and not even a late Robin van Persie effort could prevent Villa from claiming the points.

* West Ham United were relegated following an astonishing 3-2 loss away to Wigan Athletic. Demba Ba’s brace looked to have secured the Hammers all 3 points until Wigan staged a remarkable comeback with Charles N'Zogbia and Connor Sammon strikes. N'Zogbia made it 3-2 deep in injury time to end an amazing game after which Avram Grant’s was dismissed as manager.
