Will Carroll be wanted in Toon?

Will Carroll be wanted in Toon?

Wednesday, 11/01/2012

Newcastle fans will be split over whether the club should take back striker Andy Carroll.

With reports that the hitman has been offered the chance to end his Liverpool nightmare with a return to St. James' Park, Toon followers will be stunned.

Some would like to see the Gateshead-born frontman back in black and white – many others will remember how he walked out on the team that he claimed his worshipped.

They will also remember how he claimed to have always been a fan of Liverpool.

Newcastle rightly grabbed the £35m offered by Anfield for their No.9 last January and reports suggest that they would take him back for £10m.

Carroll would have to take a big wage cut to return to Gallowgate and only a return to prolific goalscoring would endear him to the black and whites.

The England striker claimed he had been forced by Newcastle officials to ask for a transfer. Toon fans will argue that if he was so commited to his local club he wouldn't have put in that request.

And boss Alan Pardew claimed the club never forced the player to leave and that he had wanted him to stay with the Magpies.

Newcastle are more likely to return to Paris Saint Germain in a bid to get Mevlut Erdinc, who they failed to land last summer.

A fee of £7m was agreed for the player at the time but then he decided to stay in Paris.

But there are reports in France that the player isn't happy at the club and that he could now be prepared to try his luck in the Premier League.

There is no way on earth that we want him back. Let him stay where he is to slowly rot like a bad apple

He made it quite clear when he left how he felt about the club. How can he work for someone after the things he said on his departure. The club has been better place without him.
