Boro boost
Monday, 20/02/2012
Rhys Williams has given Middlesbrough a massive boost by agreeing a new four and a half year deal.
The Australian midfielder was out of contract this summer and had been stalling on a new deal.
But now the 23-year-old, a star performer for Boro, has committed himself to the Riverside.
The timely boost to Middlesbrough's stuttering promotion campaign delighted boss Tony Mowbray.
"Rhys is an important cog as we move forward trying to build a team to get us into the Premier League," said the manager.
Williams said he had now settled in the area and added: ""I've no reason to leave except for my dream of playing in the Premier League, and I want to get there with his club."
