Boro boss’s worry

Boro boss’s worry

Wednesday, 08/02/2012

Middlesbrough fans are worried their promotion hopes could be fading with an injury crisis hitting the Riverside.

And boss Tony Mowbray has admitted that his search for loan stars to help push his team forward is proving a difficult task.

Mowbray had hoped to get Premier League players out of favour with their sides but knows that most top-flight teams are reluctant to let anyone go who can boost their own hopes, even from the bench.

And the Boro boss admits that he won't be able to borrow players from any of his team's fellow Championship challengers.

Cash strapped Boro take on Sunderland in their FA Cup replay tonight knowing that they now have a little cash to spend thanks to their cup exploits being shown on TV.

But Mowbray admits that his side will give their promising kids a chance in they can't land the right loan players.

“We can look at what we’ve already got in our squad, we can look at the youngsters, this club has always given them opportunities,” said Mowbray.”

Forward Curtis Main, 19, is set for his first start in this evening's game.
