Brighton scotch Owen talk
Thursday, 26/01/2012
Brighton boss Gus Poyet has rubbished talk of his club making a move for former England striker Michael Owen.
The Seagulls boss joked: "But if he wants to come he can give me a call."
Owen is well down the pecking order at Manchester United and there had been talk that the former Liverpool and Newcastle star would move south for the chance of regular first team football.
But Owen, 32, has always insisted that he would not drop down to the lower leagues to finish off his career.
The striker has made just one Premier League and three cup appearances for the Red Devils this season, but has still scored three goals.
Poyet added: "It would be a dream for this football club to have Michael Owen but it's not true."
