Burnley release Alexander
Tuesday, 05/07/2011
Club captain Graham Alexander has been allowed to leave Burnley.
The veteran of more than 1,000 League games has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
Alexander, 39, helped the Clarets win promotion to the Premier League two years ago and stayed with them after relegation.
One of only two outfield players to reach the 1,000-game mark in the League, Alexander began his career with Scunthorpe in 1991 and has also played for Luton and Preston.
He has won 40 Scotland caps and is known to fancy a crack in management.
