Cardiff: we can win Cup
Wednesday, 25/01/2012
Cardiff City League Cup star Tom Heaton says his side don't fear whoever they face in the final.
Heaton was a penalty shoot-out hero as the Bluebirds edged past Crystal Palace following a 1-1 stalemate at the end of the two-leg semi-final.
He kept out two spot kicks as Cardiff edged the shoot-out 3-1 and now await the winners of the Liverpool v Manchester City tie tonight.
"We won't just be there for the day out," Heaton said of the final. "There are two great teams in the other semi-final but I think we've got enough about us in this team with the players and the management that we can go and get a result."
Heaton, 25, revealed that he had also studied penalties taken by Palace players so that he was ready for a shoot-out.
Cardiff boss Malky Mackay said: "I'm absolutely delighted for Tom Heaton, who has been our cup goalkeeper.
"The crowd played their part and really pushed the team on, and the sprit there tonight, they deserved it."
