Forest sign striker

Promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest have taken Middlesbrough striker Kris Boyd on loan.

The Scotland hitman arrives at the City Ground as keeper Paul Smith heads to the Riverside, also on loan, as part of the deal.

Boyd, 27, the Scottish Premier League's record scorer, has failed to live up to expectations following his move from Rangers to Boro last summer.

There were rumours of a move back to Glasgow during the January transfer window with indications that current Boro boss Tony Mowbray did not favour the player.

Smith has joined the Teessiders following an injury to firstt-choice keeper Jason Steele which left Boro with only teenager Connor Ripley as cover as they battle against relegation.
