Hammers demand higher striker fee
Thursday, 30/06/2011
West Ham have told Stoke City they must pay more if they want striker Carlton Cole.
Relegated Hammers are believed to have rejected a £3m bid from the Potters for the seven-cap England frontman.
Cole, who is under contract until 2013, is thought to be valued at around £5m-£6m by the Upton Park club.
The 27-year-old has been with the Hammers since 2006 after being signed from Chelsea. Two years ago Liverpool were told they would have to pay £20m to land the striker.
He hit five Premier League goals last term, 11 in total.
