Hull move for midfield pair
Thursday, 08/07/2010
Nigel Pearson has begun his overhaul of Hull’s expensively assembled team by offering trials to experienced midfielders Nolberto Solano and James Harper.
The pair have joined the Tigers for training this week as Pearson assesses the options available to him to replace outgoing midfielders Geovanni, Stephen Hunt, George Boateng, Dean Marney and Jimmy Bullard.
Solano, 35, has announced that this will be his last season as a professional footballer.
Pearson signed Solano for former club Leicester, having worked with him at Newcastle where he was assistant manager and Solano became a cult figure.
Solano signed a six-month deal with Leicester in May, but will be allowed to leave for a nominal fee.
Harper, meanwhile, is available on a free transfer after his contract with Sheffield United expired. The former Reading man has turned down a move to Crystal Palace in favour of a chance to play at the KC Stadium.
