Leeds sack Grayson

Leeds United have sacked manager Simon Grayson.

Youth team boss Neil Redfearn has been placed in temporary charge.

Grayson had been in charge at Elland Road since December 2008 but had come under pressure from fans recently after some poor results.

The final straw was broken following last night's 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Birmingham City.

Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "With the transfer window now closed we needed to make the change at this time in the belief that a new managerial team will be able to get more out of the existing squad of players and make the difference."

Former QPR boss Neil Warnock is among the favourites to take over at the club along with Chelsea No.2 Roberto Di Matteo, ex-Sunderland boss Steve Bruce and former Charlton gaffer Alan Curbishley.
