Newcastle have signed former West Ham striker Marlon Harewood on loan from Aston Villa.

The £4m hitman could play at Ipswich on Saturday as the Magpies look to bring experience to a frontline that is missing their most experienced striker, Shola Ameobi.

Harewood, 30, failed to make an impact at Villa Park and is on an intial three-month loan at St. James Park.
