Saints battle for star
Monday, 09/01/2012
Southampton are still hopeful of landing Japan striker Tadanari Lee.
The hitman is believed to have agreed terms and has been training with the Saints.
But the South Coast side still need to sort a work permit for the 26-year-old who plays for Sanfrecce Hiroshima and has nine international appearances.
Lee, who watched Southampton's FA Cup victory over Coventry at the weekend, is likely to be one of a number of signings made by the Championship leaders during January.
Boss Nigel Adkins admitted: "The transfer window in January is a challenging one but we have a chance to get promoted to the Premier League and we're going to do everything we can to give ourselves that opportunity to do it."
