West Ham lose star player

West Ham have lost winger David Bentley to injury.

The England forward has returned to Tottenham after being ruled out for six months.

Bentley, 27, was on a season-long loan with the Hammers but has had to undergo surgery for a knee injury picked up in training.

Upton Park boss Sam Allardyce said: "It's a great shame for David as he had settled well in the squad."
