Lincoln need help

After a month of games were wiped out at ‘Sincil Blanc’ City returned to action over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Unfortunately it was not to be a glorious return to action as Lincoln stayed third from bottom after two 2-1 defeats against Bradford and Northampton.
While I could not get to the game against Northampton I regrettably did get to see our defence capitulate against what was not a particularly strong Bradford outfit.
The back line seemed to be complete strangers for most of the match with a very soft first goal the result of a mix up between Moses Swaibu and Joe Anyon.
Despite drawing level through Ashley Grimes another defensive lapse allowed Gareth Evans far too much space to send Lincoln down to their first defeat of 2011.
Steve Tilson will now be looking at bringing in someone who can bring the back together.
Up front when we got going we looked unstoppable and if it wasn’t for some fantastic saves we would have earned a point at the very least.
Despite looking great going forward there were too many occasions when Ashley Grimes was not getting the help he needed.
Grimes is undoubtedly a class player but there are times when nobody seems to be on the same level as him which is very frustrating when watching from the stands.
There were several times during the match against Bradford where he either got in to space or passed a ball in to space but nothing would come from it.
At the minute I think we can put this down to the lack of games Lincoln have played. After a whole month off competitive football it was bound to happen but the need for changing things around is evident and Tilly even admitted to this in his post-match interview after the Northampton game.
Once again there are many people on the message boards already dooming us to a relegation season but this current set of players still have a lot more in them.
The difference between this side and Sutton’s side is obvious and I firmly believe this team will improve as they begin to get some more games under their belt.
Hopefully with a few acquisitions over the transfer window we will see City begin to get away from the relegation zone.
