£40m Tevez bid
Tuesday, 12/07/2011
Manchester City could allow want-away striker Carlos Tevez to return home after receiving a reported £40m bid from Corinthians.
City are thought to want £50m for their unsettled hitman but would accepted the bid from Argentina to get the star off their payroll and bankroll a transfer for another world-class frontman.
Tevez told the club he wanted to leave Eastlands and return to Argentina as he was homesick and wanted to be with his family.
Many observers thought it would be impossible for a side from his country to match the transfer fee or get close to his wages - and that he could end up in Spain.
But a TV deal and sponsorship could see last season's Premier League top scorer on his way back to South America with the Brazilians, who he played for before arriving in England.
Meanwhile, City are furious that another wantaway star, Emmanuel Adebayor, has failed to turn up for training. He will be heavily fined.
The former Arsenal striker wants to leave the club but has turned down transfer opportunities because he wants to join Real Madrid where he was on loan last season.
