Arsene Wenger believes that Cesc Fabregas will remain a Gunner next campaign - despite the usual summer of transfer rumours involving the Arsenal captain.

"I expect him to be here, and I will fight very hard to keep him here. You have always to fight when you have a player of that quality," said Wenger.

But the Emirates Stadium boss may have to act fast if he wants to hang on to Samir Nasri, who has just one year left on his contract. The France midfielder's situation has alerted the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich, especially after the glittering season he's just enjoyed.

Wenger is also hoping to get star striker Robin van Persie to agree a new deal. Despite injuries, the Dutchman has been one of the Gunners' most important players and the club want to extend his current deal by another five years.

Meanwhile, Bacary Sagna's agent has denied his charge is off to Bayern Munich, whilst there is still heavy speculation that Russia playmaker Andriy Arshavin could move to Fenerbahce - although there has even been talk of Chelsea interest.

Wenger is coming under increasing fan pressure to make big-money signings and bring in experienced players. He could look for a keeper, central defender and striker.
