Arsenal could target England midfielder Scott Parker.

The Gunners have once again reached the end of the season without any silverware and desperately need strength and experience to boost their side.

Parker fits that bill - even though at the age of 30 he is older than their usual transfer targets. They also need to be prepared with rumours suggesting that both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri are transfer targets of other clubs.

With West Ham relegated, Parker needs to move to keep alive his England career and Arsenal would give him the platform on which to build.

The former Charlton and Chelsea star couldn't settled in the north when he moved to Newcastle so remaining in London would give him a dream move.

Hammers chiefs won't want to lose their captain and FWA Footballer of the Year and will hold out for as big a fee as possible.

Arsenal are also understood to have checked out Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, currently out injured but expected back for the start of the season. Nolan has been offered a new deal at St. James' Park and has said he is keen to stay - but that doesn't mean a move couldn't happen.
