Ba is staying put!
Monday, 09/01/2012
Hot-shot striker Demba Ba has told would-be suitors he has no interest in leaving Newcastle.
Currently away with Senegal for the African Cup of Nations, the hitman has attracted the attentions of a host of Premier League sides.
And speculation about a move from St. James' Park increased with news that he has a £5m release clause in his contract. Initially it was thought he would cost at least £10m if a club bid.
But Ba said: "I'm in Newcastle, fans like me, and then the transfer market will be closed when I go back, so I'm not focused on it.
"My first goal is the CAN and to enjoy a good result. I will then continue to play good matches with Newcastle. We undertook something, and I'd like to go all the way."
Newcastle grabbed Ba on a free transfer when West Ham were relegated last season and he's hit 15 Premier League goals so far.
The 26-year-old was lined up for a move to Stoke City last January for £7m but the deal fell through because of a medical problem.
He joined joined West Ham on a pay as you play basis but left the club through an escape clause when they were relegated.
Ba, currently the Premier League's second top scorer, has been linked to Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
