Baggies’ boost
Friday, 19/08/2011
West Brom look set to have a double boost this week with striker Peter Odemwingie agreeing a new deal and midfielder Owen Hargreaves set to join.
Odemwingie has agreed a new three-year deal at the Hawthorns. He had been subject of a failed £4m bid by Wigan and interest from other clubs, including Tottenham.
The 30-year-old Nigeria striker is now with the Baggies until 2014. He scored 15 goals in his debut Premier League season.
Manager Roy Hodgson said: "We can now look forward to benefitting once again from Peter's goal-scoring prowess and seeing him play an important part in our campaign to stay in the Premier League for a second successive season."
Meanwhile, former England midfielder Hargreaves, released by Man United earlier this summer after continuing injury problems, looks set to arrive at Albion.
He is undergoing a medical check at the club and if he can agree personal terms he will join Albion.
Hodgson said: "We believe he's capable of playing top-flight football again and we're very interested in him."

haha! ‘good news’ that Hargreaves is joining. Bad news more like, they are flushing wages down the drain!
