Balotelli charged
Monday, 23/01/2012
Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli has been charged with violent conduct for apparently stamping on Tottenham's Scott Parker.
The Italian hitman could have been red-carded if the stamp was deliberate but instead stayed on the pitch and scored the winning penalty in Sunday's clash at the Etihad Stadium.
He has the right to appeal against the charge which carries a four-match ban if proved but could end up being even longer out of the game.
Balotelli's punishment is heavier than normal as he was sent off earlier in the season.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp said: "It is not the first time he has done that and I am sure it won't be the last.
"I have got my own opinions but I don't like people kicking other people in the head on football pitches. I don't think it's wrong to say that."
