Barca the best!

Barcelona are the Champions of Europe.

The Spanish giants showed why they are also regarded as the best team in the world by outclassing Manchester United 3-1 at Wembley.

From start to finish the Catalans gave a masterclass of football as they demolished the Premier League champions.

United came out guns blazing in a bid to stifle the Spaniards but after ten minutes Barca found their feet and from then on the result never looked in any danger.

Pedro gave them the lead after 27 minutes and just as it looked like they might swamp United, Wayne Rooney hit back on 34 to level the scores.

It stayed 1-1 at half time despite Barca's superiority, possesion, passing skills and attempts on goal.

But nine minutes after the restart Lionel Messi, playing as always as if his life depended on the result, put the visitors 2-1 up.

The scoring was completed on 69 when Barca's third forward, David Villa, put the ball past Edwin van der Sar.

United can have no complaints about the result. The Champions League Final went as most pundits predicted - with Barcelona in control virtually from start to finish.

This wasn't so much a poor United performance more of a great performance by Barcelona, who lifted the European Cup for the fourth time in their history.

United captain Nemanja Vidic admitted: "You have to say Barcelona played good football, had more chances and were better than us tonight."
