Berbatov for Bayer
Wednesday, 28/12/2011
Dimitar Berbatov is wanted back at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Manchester United striker's representatives have been in touch with the Germans about a possible return.
Berbatov, 30, was with Bayer for five years until 2006 when he joined Tottenham in a £10m deal.
The former Bulgaria captain moved to Manchester United for £30m two years later but has recently become a fringe player at Old Trafford despite winning last season's Premier League Golden Boot.
His contract runs out next summer although United do have a 12-month option to renew.
Berbatov returned to action recently and scored his 50th goal for the Red Devils. On Boxing Day he hit a hat-trick as United beat Wigan 5-0 at Old Trafford.
