Blackpool are team of the season!

Premier League bosses agree that Manchester United are favourite to win the Barclays Premier League - but reckon that Ian Holloway's Blackpool are the team of the season, so far this campaign.

New research by Barclays shows that 80 per cent of top-flight bosses reckon Sir Alex Ferguson is on course to once again lift the title. And the same number agreed that the promoted Tangerines have taken the division by storm.

Other findings included:

* Managers reckon man management is their most important skill, with tactical know how and ability to manage the board the least important aspects of their job.

* Sir Alex Ferguson was named the best manager in the history of the Barclays Premier League (87 per cent) and the greatest football manager of all time (27 per cent).

* Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs was voted the greatest player to have graced the Barclays Premier League (47 per cent) – beating Eric Cantona (27 per cent) and Alan Shearer (13 per cent).

* World Player of the Year Lionel Messi was wanted by less than half the managers, with some preferring Nemanja Vidic or Wayne Rooney.

*Arsenal teenager Jack Wilshere was voted the young English player who has impressed managers most this season.

* Tottenham’s Rafael van der Vaart was voted the best signing of the season.
